Because Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is grappling — not striking — kids learn control instead of how to hit. There's constant supervision, clear rules, and a clean, padded, premium facility. Parents are welcome to watch from the side and see the progress for themselves.
More than a martial art.
Parents in Winnipeg bring their kids to Socius for skills that last well beyond the mats. Jiu-Jitsu rewards patience, problem-solving, and showing up — and kids feel that progress every week.
“I drive past three other gyms to bring my kids to this one.”
“40 minutes away from our home — but well worth it!”

Thinking about kids BJJ in Winnipeg? Here's what parents ask us most before their child's first class.
What age can my child start?
Our kids program is built for ages 8 to 13. Kids train with peers at a similar age and stage, and beginners are always welcome — no experience needed.
Is BJJ safe for children?
Yes. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling art with no striking, so kids learn control rather than how to hit. Classes are constantly supervised, run with clear rules, and use age-appropriate drills on padded mats in a clean, premium facility.
Will it help with confidence and bullying?
It's one of the biggest reasons parents enroll. Kids build real self-defense skills, focus, and discipline, which translates into quiet confidence — the kind that helps them stand tall without ever needing to start a fight.
When are classes and what should my child bring?
Kids BJJ runs Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:45–6:30 PM. Your child just needs comfortable athletic clothes and a water bottle to start, and a gi is included with our current enrollment offer.
